The Jakarta Post
Taufiq Rahman took over as chief editor for The Jakarta Post in Oct. 1, 2020 after serving as deputy chief editor for three years. He has been with the Post since 2004, moving up the rank from the position of a political reporter. He interrupted his reporting duty to pursue his master’s degree in comparative politics at the Northern Illinois University (NIU) in the United States on a Fulbright scholarship, between 2007 and 2009.
Upon returning from the States, he took up a teaching job at the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarief Hidayatullah, Jakarta, mostly on the subject of international political economy.
Outside of the Post, he is also known as a fixture of Indonesia’s independent music scene. On the weekend, he uses what’s left of his free time to run a boutique record label which mostly releases Indonesian music on vinyl.
