He has been at Unilever for 24 years, with deep experience of leading big purpose-led categories and P&L’s, and putting sustainability, purpose and creativity at the heart of business growth. Along with leading Oral Care business for Unilever, he leads the world’s largest bath, soaps, hand wash and sanitisers business, hyper relevant in today’s world. As part of his remit, he leads the brands Lux, Lifebuoy, Dove cleansing, Signal/Pepsodent, Closeup and many others, creating the strategy, purpose, innovation and communications for these brands globally.
In his earlier stint as the Global Brand VP for Lifebuoy, Samir was instrumental in building Lifebuoy’s social mission to change the handwashing behaviour of 1 billion people, which is seen as a benchmark of excellence not only in Unilever but also in the external world. He led the path-breaking and award-winning ‘Help a Child Reach 5’ Lifebuoy campaign which marketing guru David Aaker rated as “the best social marketing campaign ever” which was made into a Harvard Business School case study. He has won multiple Cannes and Effie awards
over the years.
Samir’s purpose is to build blockbuster businesses that challenge the status quo and help make a difference to society, while being part of teams that spread joy. Samir was born in a small town in India and he feels privileged and lucky to have made the long journey to become part of an amazing team that does pioneering work, helps save lives, reduce illness, build self-esteem and does it with a spirit of joy and inclusivity.
