Khairunnisak is the Head of Group Communications for Malaysia Aviation Group, overseeing the corporate, customer-facing and internal communications for all subsidiaries under the Group including national carrier, Malaysia Airlines.

She joined the company in 2013 when it was known as Malaysian Airline System (MAS) and has been part of monumental milestones of the Group including the delisting of MAS and transition to Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) in 2015 and the financial restructuring in 2020-21 that won the Group “The Aviation 100 Deals of the Year Awards 2022” by Airline Economics. Khairunnisak played a pivotal role in leading the communications strategy during crises, notably the twin tragedies of 2014.

Prior to joining the airline, Khairunnisak worked in public affairs at ExxonMobil Malaysia and in public relations at NatSeven TV (ntv7), with a part-time stint as news anchor for “Edisi 7” and television host for consumer advocacy programme, “Hak Anda”. In 2022, she was selected by Khazanah Nasional, the country’s sovereign wealth fund, as recipient of the prestigious Wolfson Press Fellowship at the University of Cambridge where she conducted research on the “Changing Role of Media in Crisis Reporting”.
