With over 16 years of experience across tech and lifestyle journalism, public relations, and branding, Sharmine (Sam) Ishak has built a strong track record in shaping brand equity through impactful storytelling and strategic communications.

He currently leads in-market communications for Visa in Malaysia, working closely with sales and functional teams to support and advance key business priorities. In his role, Sam focuses on strengthening Visa’s brand presence and reputation – particularly around commercial and money movement solutions and risk and fraud solutions – while proactively identifying opportunities to showcase the company’s product innovation and value-added services (VAS) capabilities.

Prior to joining Visa, Sam was senior manager at Lazada Malaysia, where he elevated the platform’s visibility and supported regional initiatives in Indonesia and the Philippines. He also held a consultancy role at Ogilvy Public Relations, advising clients such as Malaysia Airlines, Shell, and Nestlé.

A self-professed tech enthusiast, Sam enjoys travelling, discovering new cuisines, and writing.
