Jean Tan
Corporate Affairs Director, Mars Wrigley Asia
Jean is a seasoned strategic communications, corporate affairs and public relations practitioner. She has 18 years of experience across a range of closely related disciplines, including corporate communications, public affairs, consumer PR, organisation purpose,
employee engagement, corporate brand management as well as issues
and crisis management.
Jean is currently the Director of Corporate Affairs for Mars Wrigley, the world’s leading manufacturer of chocolate, chewing gum, mints and fruity confections, leading a team focusing on protecting and enhancing the company’s freedom to operate, internal and external reputation and stakeholder engagement across 20 markets in Asia.
Prior to that she built and ran an independent consulting business focusing on helping leaders in corporations as well as family businesses position themselves and their organisations to internal and external stakeholders, following a brief stint in executive search. She was also a Special Adviser with Landmark Public Affairs, an international agency focused on government affairs and advocacy.
Over the course of her career Jean has held senior roles in both advisory and in-house capacities. She was a Director with Brunswick Group, a global advisory firm specialising in critical issues and corporate relations. She provided senior counsel to clients on matters that affect reputation, valuation and business success, including corporate positioning, government engagement and internal advocacy. She was also the Firm’s Asia lead for the Employee Engagement specialism.
Before joining Brunswick Group, Jean spent a decade with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), a FTSE 100 organisation and one of the largest hotel companies in the world. She led the
communications and corporate affairs function for the Group’s Asia, Middle East and Africa business and was accountable for corporate, brand, employee, investor and asset owner communications.
Jean started her career in public relations with luxury German automotive company Audi, part of the Volkswagen Group, and also held a role within the corporate practice in Hill & Knowlton, an international public relations company, servicing clients from a variety of industries, including petrochemicals and financial services.
Jean has a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and a Diploma of Distinction for Mass Communications from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin, Jean was trained across the external communications spectrum, including print and broadcast journalism.
Jean is Singaporean and is based in Singapore.
