Mr Walter De Oude founded Singlife in 2014 after 15 years of corporate career in insurance and banking.

Singlife, under Walter’s dynamic leadership, brought intuitive technology and user friendliness into Singapore’s insurance industry. It was acquired by Sumitomo Life in 2022 at a valuation of SGD4.6bn.

Never one to rest on his laurels of success, Walter then embarked on launching Chocolate Finance; which is a key disruptor to the cash savings segment for Singapore. Its meteoric rise to success was thanks to Chocolate’s simple but effective concept of visible attractive daily returns with ease of withdrawals, no need for deposit lock-ins or jumping through hoops for accessing those returns.

Chocolate Finance’s AUM crossed 1 Billion within 10 months, and the company has recently extended the product offerings with cards. Walter currently has his eye on aggressive expansions into other Asian markets, as well as the Middle East
